Akosua Nti, MD is a vitreoretinal surgeon at NJRetina. After completing her undergraduate degree in Neuroscience and Behavior at Wesleyan University in Connecticut, she earned her medical degree from the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine as a Willis Scholar.
Dr. Nti completed her residency in ophthalmology at the Scheie Eye Institute at the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia, followed by a two-year fellowship in vitreoretinal surgery at the Wilmer Eye Institute at Johns Hopkins in Baltimore.
Dr. Nti has held faculty appointments, serving as an Assistant Instructor in the Department of Ophthalmology at University of Pennsylvania Perelman School of Medicine and Assistant of Ophthalmology at Wilmer Eye Institute at Johns Hopkins.
Dr. Nti has received numerous honors and awards including the Willis Scholar Award, the National Heart Lung Blood Institute Short Term Research Award, and Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology Travel Grant. She has presented at national meetings including the Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology, American Association for Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus, and the Association of University Professors of Ophthalmology. Dr. Nti has authored several original papers that have been published in various peer-reviewed journals including JAMA Ophthalmology and Retina.
She is board certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology, and a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and American Society of Retina Specialists. Dr. Nti is married, and enjoys spending time with family, traveling, and hiking.
